In the early 2000s, the EBCI swapped land they owned near Waterrock Knob, off the Blue Ridge Parkway, for land adjacent to the Qualla Boundary belonging to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The tribe used part of the reclaimed land, called the Ravensford Tract, as a site to build state-of-the-art schools for its members. September 21, 2020.
