I'm sharing a story on OSF this week about Danny Grassrope and his seriously impressive path to becoming a Water Protector. If inclined, take a moment to learn about this extraordinary human. ・・・
Danny Grassrope has an infectious smile and can take a mean selfie. He also knows how to harness the power of social media as a tool to mobilize, organize, and foster encouragement. Through social media, Water Protectors have drawn indigenous youth and elders from across the country to Standing Rock –– and have captured the attention of an international audience.
One of Grassrope’s favorite quotes –– and the one he uses on his Facebook intro –– is by Dr. Seuss: "Unless Someone Like You Cares A Whole Awful Lot Nothing Is Gonna Get Better It's Not."
Grassrope made the above photo on July 5, 2016, shortly before participating in a 2,000-mile relay race to Washington, D.C. The race, documented and shared on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, was a key event in raising awareness of the #NoDAPL movement.
This is @sarah_stacke sharing a story about Danny Grassrope @4grassrope4 and his fellow Water Protectors.
